Water removal and cleanup is the response to standing water from a burst pipe, overflowing fixture, sump pump failure, or any other plumbing-related flooding event. The priority is getting water out fast, since the longer it sits, the more damage it does to flooring, drywall, and belongings, and the higher the risk of mold starting to develop within the first 24 to 48 hours. This service picks up right where the plumbing fix leaves off, addressing the water that's already made it into the property.
You need this when a pipe has burst and flooded a room, a water heater has failed and leaked significant water, a sump pump failure has let a basement flood, or any other plumbing failure has left standing water on floors or soaked into carpet and drywall. The urgency here is real – water sitting for even a day starts causing secondary damage beyond the original leak, and materials that could have been saved with fast extraction may need full replacement if cleanup is delayed.
We start with water extraction using pumps and wet vacuums to remove standing water as quickly as possible, prioritizing rooms with the most water first. Once standing water is cleared, we bring in industrial air movers and dehumidifiers to dry out the affected area thoroughly, since visible water is only part of the problem – moisture trapped in walls, subflooring, and baseboards needs to be addressed too or it becomes a mold issue down the line. We monitor moisture levels throughout the drying process rather than guessing when it's done, and we'll flag any materials that are too damaged to dry out and need replacement.
Cost depends on how much water is involved, how large the affected area is, and how long the water sat before we got the call – faster response generally means less overall damage and a smaller cleanup job. Properties in Berkeley, CA with finished basements or lower-level living spaces typically see higher costs when flooding reaches those areas.
